AIDOT (CEO Jeong Jae-hoon) announced on the 14th that it introduced its AI-based cervical cancer screening system “Cerviray A.I.” at the “Health Technology 2022” international exhibition held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, for three days from the 7th to the 9th.
Health Technology 2022 brought together a total of 80 organizations, including 13 public and private hospitals, 14 medical device and equipment organizations, and 41 pharmaceutical factories and medicine supply organizations. About 10,000 visitors attended, and among them, approximately 4,500 received consultations from medical specialists.
Mongolia is a plateau country with an average elevation of around 1,600 meters, and 40% of its territory is mountainous. While it has relatively few medical facilities and a small market, it is considered one of the places with high demand for medical services. In addition, cervical cancer ranks as the No. 1 disease incidence among Mongolian women, making demand for screening very high.
Cerviray is a system that combines a portable device with software that displays the presence or absence of disease, severity, and disease status. It is expected to help improve quality of life for Mongolian women by enabling screening via AI software in mountainous or desert areas of Mongolia where medical facilities are lacking, and allowing patients to receive a final diagnosis from a doctor remotely.
In particular, AIDOT is currently running a pilot project for 300 patients in Mongolia’s Gobi region, centered around Dr. Bayarsaikhan Luvsandorj, a former physician at the National Cancer Center, and plans to expand nationwide in 2023 to begin full-scale cervical cancer screening.
Lee Hong-seok, assistant manager in AIDOT’s Global Sales & Marketing Division, said, “A contract has already been finalized with a local Mongolian medical device company, and we have secured an initial export volume of more than USD 30,000,” adding, “In 2023, we will spare no effort in the fight against cervical cancer in Mongolia by utilizing international support funds such as UN international funds.”
