AIDOT announced that it has been finally selected for the AI-converged medical imaging interpretation system support project hosted by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), and that it will develop an AI solution in the field of ureteral stones over the next two years together with emergency medicine professors at Hanyang University Hospital and Seoul National University Bundang Hospital.

Attendees at the event included Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum; National Assembly members Lee Kwang-jae and Song Gi-heon; and key officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), HIRA, and NIPA. Companies selected for the project—AIDOT, Crescom, and JLK—also attended the opening event for HIRA’s Data Demonstration Lab.

In particular, AIDOT conducted a live demonstration of “SONO dot AI,” its in-house AI-based carotid ultrasound system for early stroke pre-diagnosis. The demonstration was led by Professor Jeon Jin-pyeong of the Department of Neurosurgery at Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital, a co-researcher. He explained that a key advantage is that even primary and secondary hospitals can, with the help of AI, achieve diagnostic results comparable to those of general hospitals.

AIDOT said that SONO dot AI has secured performance with 93%+ accuracy in diagnosing carotid plaque, and that it is currently undergoing MFDS approval procedures.

At the event, CEO Jeong Jae-hoon said, “We will further accelerate overseas expansion by ensuring that Korea’s excellent AI solutions, developed with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT, have not only domestic strength but also global competitiveness.”
