AIDOT’s Cerviray AI research paper published in an international journal

AIDOT (CEO Jeong Jae-hoon) announced on the 7th that research findings on its AI-based cervical cancer interpretation system, “Cerviray AI,” have been published in the SCI-level international journal “MDPI Healthcare 2022.”

The paper, co-authored by Professor Kim Seong-min of CHA University and professors Song Jae-yoon, Lee Hwa-jeong, Lee Jae-gwan, and Lee Nak-woo of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Korea University College of Medicine, addresses “The Role of Artificial Intelligence Interpretation of Colposcopic Images in Cervical Cancer Screening.”

According to the paper, even experienced colposcopy specialists showed a significant increase in sensitivity when assisted by AI. The researchers emphasized that AI systems can be applied in cervical cancer screening, and that AI interpretation can be used as a supportive tool for visual assessment via colposcopy.

In addition, the study suggested that AI can lower high medical barriers in low-income or developing countries where medical infrastructure is insufficient.

Conventional cervical cancer screening methods require substantial costs to build infrastructure such as specialized medical personnel and screening facilities. By contrast, Cerviray AI is relatively less expensive to deploy because it can collect data using Cerviray’s portable device, and then requires only a server that receives the data and uses AI.

As a result, Cerviray AI is expected to be useful for patients in underdeveloped or developing countries because remote care is possible even when no specialist is on site.

Im Ga-ram, team leader of AIDOT’s Global Marketing Team, said, “We are receiving inquiries from many countries—including Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, and countries in Central and South America—that have taken note of Cerviray AI’s strengths,” adding, “Some Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, are expected to begin official exports in the first half of this year, which will further accelerate our entry into the global market.”
