AIDOT, a South Korean AI on-device medical device company, is set to release its next-generation AI-based otitis media diagnostic system, ECHO dot AI.
According to the company, ECHO dot AI is a stand-alone, on-device solution that can be used immediately without internet connectivity or additional security measures. This makes it suitable for hospitals and clinics with limited network environments, as well as first-line healthcare facilities, and both developed and developing country settings, providing secure and reliable operation anywhere.
The system features an AI-powered diagnostic function that quickly and accurately assesses the severity of otitis media (ear inflammation). It recognizes ear anatomy, checks both ears, and precisely extracts the eardrum region. In addition, it can capture the middle ear area while simultaneously measuring body temperature, allowing efficient management of patient diagnostic and treatment histories. External validation has shown that ECHO dot AI achieves a sensitivity of 94.74%, specificity of 94.64%, and accuracy of 91.01% in analyzing otitis media severity.
Professor Jaeho Jung of Hanyang University’s ENT Department, who participated in the product development, said,
“ECHO dot AI can be used in any environment without network or security concerns, dramatically improving medical accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and on-site usability. Especially after COVID-19, it has great potential as a solution for rapid and accurate otitis media diagnosis in telemedicine, mobile clinics, and regional healthcare centers. With its diagnostic innovation, accuracy, and field-friendly usability, this next-generation product is expected to reshape the domestic and international digital healthcare market.”
He added, “Once deployed on-site, ECHO dot AI will elevate medical staff diagnostic capabilities and patient treatment experiences to a new level. Particularly during mass patient events, similar to COVID-19, it can provide immediate support for rapid diagnosis, offering practical benefits to healthcare professionals.”
AIDOT plans to continue providing innovative diagnostic environments to patients and healthcare providers worldwide through AI-based on-device medical solutions.
