According to the Korean Hospital Association and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the ministry issued a partial revision on August 25 (Notice No. 2026-174) to the "List of Reimbursable and Non-Reimbursable Medical Practice Items and Relative Value Scores," establishing "AI-based urolithiasis diagnostic support utilizing non-contrast computed tomography (CT) images" as a new non-reimbursable innovative medical technology practice.

The notice applies to all medical institutions nationwide starting September 1.

This official listing marks a significant milestone where URO dot AI has been formally recognized as a legitimate medical procedure within the institutional healthcare environment through the innovative medical technology evaluation process. Medical staff can now officially prescribe and bill for diagnostic support utilizing URO dot AI when assessing patients suspected of having urolithiasis.

Urolithiasis is accompanied by excruciating pain, making rapid and accurate diagnosis essential. However, traditional methods require visually reading hundreds of non-contrast CT cross-sections one by one, which can cause delays in emergency situations or risk missing micro-stones under 4mm and periureteral stones.

With this listing, medical institutions can overcome previous hesitations regarding adoption due to a lack of billing options, which is expected to accelerate implementation across urology private clinics and university hospital emergency rooms.

Furthermore, real-world data accumulated in clinical settings during the non-reimbursable usage period is expected to serve as core evidence for future discussions regarding standard health insurance reimbursement.

Building on this listing, AIDOT announced that it is accelerating technological expansion while pursuing research to extend its existing CT-based diagnostics into an X-ray version through a Gangwon Province project.
