AIDOT Co., Ltd., a Korean medical AI company, is set to begin full-scale entry into the Central and South American market in the first half of this year with its AI-based cervical cancer screening system, ‘Cerviray AI’ (Cerviray). Starting with Mexico, AIDOT has signed agency agreements with local medical device specialists in Costa Rica and El Salvador as well. This expansion follows the system’s recognition for innovation through commercialization in neighboring countries Bolivia and Honduras, and is fueled by the brand credibility built up over time. Mexico, in particular, has a population of more than 130 million, making it the second largest in Latin America after Brazil, and serves as a key milestone for expansion into the region. In Mexico, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women of all ages and the cancer with the third highest mortality rate. Each year, over 9,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer, with more than 4,000 deaths. As a preventive measure, cytology testing is recommended every three years for women over 25, and HPV testing every five years for women over 35, but implementation rates remain low. Since the introduction of the HPV vaccine in 2012, vaccination rates have stayed low, making Cerviray—a system capable of rapid and convenient screening without additional infrastructure—a promising tool for cervical cancer prevention in Mexico. AIDOT plans to sequentially seek medical device certification and begin sales in the countries where agreements have been signed. The company aims for rapid market penetration by leveraging local medical device distribution partners. Cerviray has already received positive feedback from Mexican medical professionals, and with the agreements in Costa Rica and El Salvador serving as a springboard, active discussions are ongoing with major South American countries such as Chile and Caribbean island nations, raising expectations for quick market expansion across the region. AIDOT plans to strengthen its competitiveness in the cervical cancer screening market by launching tailored campaigns and promotions for various customer segments in Central and South America and building up brand recognition.
