AIDOT Co., Ltd. announced on April 25 that it has registered a patent for its urinary stone AI solution, “URO dot AI”, under the title “Urinary Stone Diagnostic System and Method for Providing Information for Urinary Stone Diagnosis.” According to AIDOT, this patent covers a urinary stone diagnostic system and method that detects and displays the location and size of urinary stones using machine learning. The technology analyzes CT images with AI to estimate the ureter and urinary tract, detects urinary stones, and displays their location information on the CT images. AIDOT’s internal evaluation of the AI solution showed a sensitivity of 98.93%, specificity of 96.34%, and stone size measurement accuracy of 94.11%. In March, the company also received approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) for its clinical trial plan regarding the urinary stone AI solution, allowing for smooth entry into the domestic market. CEO Jaehoon Jung stated, “This patented technology will enable more precise prediction of the location of urinary stones during extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), which is the main procedure for treating urinary stones, thereby reducing possible side effects compared to previous methods.” He added, “We will continue to strengthen our company’s competitiveness by continuously securing intellectual property rights.”
