AIDOT Co., Ltd. announced on the 17th that it has been selected for a pilot project organized by the National Information Society Agency (NIA), which utilizes AI to address social issues in Honduras. As part of this initiative, AIDOT will implement an AI-based early cervical cancer diagnosis program for women in Honduras. This project aims to improve women’s health in Honduras by introducing and operating AIDOT’s Cerviray system, enhancing medical staff training, and strengthening data management. In Honduras, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women of all ages and has the highest cancer mortality rate. Each year, about 858 out of 3.6 million women over age 15 are diagnosed with cervical cancer, and 518 women die from the disease. Cerviray is an AI-based system for cervical cancer screening, enabling quick and easy screening even in areas with limited medical infrastructure. It is expected to make a significant contribution to cervical cancer prevention. AIDOT CEO Jaehoon Jung stated, “Honduras is a region where cytology and HPV testing are not properly conducted. In such conditions, introducing Cerviray—which combines VIA (visual inspection with acetic acid) and AI—will be highly meaningful.” He continued, “In addition to our entry into Honduras, we are signing contracts with most countries in South America, contributing to women’s health through early detection of cervical cancer in the region.” AIDOT also plans to improve screening quality through local training programs and support systems, and to deliver effective cervical cancer prevention campaigns to local communities.
